R. Sutey Refuse - Move Topsoil, Road and Stream Diversion Ditch
Dear Jim:
Enclosed is a map (Geo-Hydro 8 of 9) showing the proposed new topsoil pile
location. The dimensions will be 1501 x 4501 or 55,000 cubic yards (1.55
acres); this area would be added to the five-year permit area.
We believe the bond would remain the same, as the proposed pile would simply
replace the original pile location.
Also enclosed is a realignment of the USFS access road. This road replaces
the interim five-year USFS access road and will be a permanent USFS access
road. See revised July 1984 Geo-Hydro map 7 of 9, and also my revision of
map 8 of 9. The five-year road covered approximately 12001 x 201 or 0.55
acres. The new permanent access road covers approximately 12001 x 20, or
0.55 acres--thus, an even trade of disturbed area.
The third item enclosed is the change of location of the five-year stream
diversion ditch. We propose to move this ditch up canyon about 500 feet,
plus or minus. This would allow the second five-year refuse pile to go in
below the ditch; thus only one ditch would have to be built for the ten-
year period. The ditch design would remain the same (it actually could be
reduced in size); but the exit or junction with Sutey Creek will have to be
re-designed. See enclosed detail sketch. The open channel would go into
a 4811 culvert under the USFS access road, then down a 20 percent slope
into the rip-rapped pit at the exit.
The 47-year pile design is conceptual and will be re-designed at a future
date to circumvent the topsoil pile.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
a.A6- W
Environmental Coordinator
DWBowman:ms
Enclosures 24 . 1
