James Stark
7. DRMS - NECC is proposing to drill exploration hole NE -01 -12 in the AVF along the
Purgatoire River. This hole will be different from exploration holes drilled in bedrock and
may require a different sealing plan. Please provide a description of how NECC will seal
exploration hole NE- 01 -12, which is located in the Purgatoire River AVF, to ensure the
protection of the essential hydrologic Junction of the AVF. Please include a generalized
description of this sealing on permit page 2.05 -54.
NECC - As explained above NE -01 -12 is not located in an AVF. In any case, it is standard
practice of Agapito to fill all exploration holes with cement. Agapito has the drilling
company mix neat cement and pump from bottom up to surface. To ensure all water is lifted
out of the hole.
8. DRMS' - In the cover letter NECC states that, while exploration hole NE -01 -12 will be drilled
in the Purgatoire River AVF, it will be more than 100 feet from the Purgatoire River.
Proposed Map 20 indicates that the location of exploration hole NE -01 -12 is approximately
500 feet from the Purgatoire River. The current proposed location for exploration hole NE-
01 -12 is acceptable to the Division. However, pursuant to Rule 4.05.18, please ensure that
exploration hole NE -01 -12 remains more than 100 feet away, from the Purgatoire River.
NECC - NECC will ensure that exploration hole NE -01 -12 remains more than 100 feet away
from the Purgatoire River.
Sincerely,
J.
