Rodriguez, Mary
From:
Talvitie, Marcia
Sent:
Thursday, May 10, 2012 1:17 PM
To:
Ebert, Jared
Cc:
DRMS - Coal - Admin; Brown, Sandy
Subject:
Review of Trapper Semi - Annual Geotechnical Monitoring Report
Hello, Jared
As requested in your April 16, 2012 email, I reviewed Trapper Mining, Inc.'s (TMI's) March 2012 Semi - Annual
Geotechnical Monitoring Report (GMR) for the Trapper Mine (Permit No. C- 1981 -010).
Instrumentation located at four stations (5, 6, 7 and 8) collects data on a continual basis. The graphical presentation of
the data here is somewhat modified from that provided with previous GMR submittals. TMI's cover letter explains that
a different software is now being used to download and analyze the data.
I have only one comment regarding the information contained in the March 2012 GMR: For the piezometers at Station
IN -8, the pressures recorded at the "M" level (blue line) are lower than the pressures reported for the "L" level. Table 1
from the September 2011 GMR gives depths of 142 feet and 59 feet for the IN -8 piezometers. Presumably the M
installation is the deeper of the two, which should result in higher pore pressures being measured for that piezometer.
Please ask TMI to review the piezometer data for IN -8 and revise if appropriate.
Let me know if you have any questions about my review.
Marcia
Marcia L.
