MINED LAND RECLAMATION ANNUAL REPORT
Date: April 24, 2012
Permit Number: M- 2002 -020
Operation Name: 25 Avenue Site (Poudre Ponds)
Permittee: City of Greeley
Submitted by: Angela Miles Fiore, Water Resource Administrator
(970) 350 -9209, angela.milesfiore@greeleygov.com
Si{
RECEIVED
MAY 042012
Division of Reclamation,
Mining & Safety
1. Extent of current disturbances.
There were no mining disturbances in 2011. A chain -link perimeter fence was erected around
the south and east sides of Ponds 1 and 2. The fence on the north side between the ponds and
poudre trail was removed. A mine identification sign was posted at the entrance of the mine
site.
2. Reclamation accomplished to date and during preceding year.
The reclaimed end use for the area under the mining permit is water storage. The reclamation
accomplished to date revolved around the construction of the slurry wall (completed in 2002)
and inlet and outlet facilities needed to operate the storage facility (completed in 2005). In 2003,
Greeley's 25 Ave. gravel lake storage project met the Colorado State Engineer's Office
performance standard for Tined gravel pits. After meeting this standard for Tined reservoirs,
Greeley initiated and substantially completed the inlet and outlet facilities for the storage facility
in 2004. Greeley removed tamarisk from the side slopes in 2005.
3. New disturbances anticipated to occur during upcoming year.
LaFarge completed mining the berm between the lakes in 2004 and opted to discontinue
removing material below the present bottom of the existing lake(s). The disturbed slopes were
reclaimed per the Reclamation Plan. It is estimated that over one million cubic yards remains
above the bedrock elevation. Greeley plans to reclaim the remaining material within the next
few years, as soon as conditions support the economic feasibility of removing the remaining
material. There are no plans to mine in the current year.
4. Reclamation to be performed during upcoming year.
On -going mowing and manual weed removal as needed.
5. Dates for the beginning of active operations.
Active mining began at the site in December of 2003.
6. Date active operation ceased for the year, if any.
December 2004.
