A pipe carries flows from the seal to a rock sump, from which it
discharges. Intermittent flows occur, during the spring, as part of snowmelt.
DMG took over reclamation in 1994, and subsequently reclaimed the road to Mine #5,
including removal of the large culvert crossings on Oil.Well and Coal Creek(s). As a
result, it is very difficult to access the mine site. Access by cars, trucks and heavy
equipment would be destructive of the previous reclamation, and is infeasible.
F00-4 ___ MW No. 1 Mine Dschg NA No Fk Dutch Ck
The U.S. Forest Service has acquired, and now owns, all property formerly owned by
Mid-Continent in this area.
The mine has been sealed.
