Drawer 790
Glenwood Springs, CO 81602
RE: Reclamation issue at Mid-Continent mine site
Dear Ed:
Please find enclosed a memo addresed to me from Steve Renner. The memo concerns
the Huntsman Project which is being funded through the Abandoned Mined Land Program.
This project will result in a cost savings to the Creditors' Trust since certain reclamation
tasks which would normally be paid for by liquidation funds would instead be paid through
AML funds. In order to conduct this project, however, topsoil must be available. The
Division is aware that there is topsoil stockpiled near the former overland conveyor. This
topsoil would probably be sufficient to complete the project. The Division, therefore,
requests the written permission of the Creditors' Trustee to use this topsoil for the Huntsman
Project. Please note that if this topsoil is not available for the project, then the project may
not be viable. Consequently, any savings to the Creditors' Trust would not be realized.
Please forward this request to the Creditors' Trustee, and let me know if you have any
comments or questions. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
CHERYL A.
