2.0 SCOPE OF WORK AND SPECIFIC AVORK TASKS <br /> As noted, the focus of the preliminary investigation will be to assess the general property <br /> conditions as they relate to environmental concerns. The proposed work tasks, and the scope <br /> of work included in each task, are presented in the following sections. <br /> Task 1 - Detailed Review of Existing Information <br /> Over the operational history of the mine, MCR collected a large amount of information <br /> related to environmental monitoring programs and general site conditions. Some of those data <br /> were collected in accordance with State and Federal mining permits; other data pertain to MCR's <br /> day to day operations. The available information relates to: historical mine permitting and <br /> development, local geology and hydrology, surface- and ground-water quality, and <br /> environmental monitoring and compliance (i.e., disposal of asbestos and electrical transformers <br /> from the site, removal of underground storage tanks, etc.). <br /> The available information will be reviewed to assess its relevance to the general <br /> characterization of the property and its environmental condition. That information will be <br /> utilized where possible to avoid redundant data collection, and together with the data gathered <br /> under this work plan, will be summarized and evaluated in the Environmental Site Assessment <br /> Report. <br /> Task 2 - Field Reconnais;ance <br /> HAI and N[CR personnel will perform a two-day field reconnaissance of the site when <br /> access is available (assumed to be late spring/early summer). The reconnaissance will include <br /> a site walk to assess the general condition of the property and to identify potential environmental <br /> concerns, with sp(cific attention to the three aforementioned areas. In addition, former MCR <br /> employees will be interviewed G) better understand the site history and activities that may have <br /> affected the environmental condition of the site.
