Apri123, 2012 C- 1981- 012/New Elk Mine JHB <br />Topsoil pile 2 has been shaped and graded. Stabilization seed mix needs to be seeded on to this pile to stabilize <br />and minimize invasion by noxious species. <br />Subsoil pile has also been graded and shaped. NECC needed a temporary location to dry pond cleanings from <br />Pond 6 and 7. NECC has constructed a cell to dry the excavated sediment on top of the subsoil stockpile. When <br />this material is dry enough to handle, it will moved to the RDA for final disposal. The Division confirmed this <br />activity. <br />DOCUMENTS RECEIVED None <br />OTHER (SPECIFY) <br />ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS /COMPLIANCE <br />No enforcement actions are being taken as a result of the anonymous tip through the OSM tipline. No <br />evidence was found substantiating that any waste had been dumped into the Purgatoire River at the New <br />Elk Mine operation. The banks of the Purgatoire were walked and observed along the length of the active <br />mining facilities. The effluent from Pond 001 met the CDPHE standards for pH and TDS.
