Hickenlooper
Governor
Mike King
Executive Director
Loretta Pineda
Director
The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety has completed its review of the Discharge Monitoring
Reports for March of 2012 for the Elk Creek Mine.
Discharge was reported for outfall 016 -A during March 2012, which was consistent with the field
inspection. The DMR report included the concentration of total dissolved solids but did not include
values for pH, total suspended solids, settle solids, total iron, oil & grease and flow rate.
These parameters are required to be measured by Elk Creek's Colorado Wastewater Discharge Permit
(Permit No. CO- 0000132) Part I, A, 1, b.
Please explain the omission of the six listed parameters for outfall 016 -A.
If you have any questions, please contact me at (303) 866 -3567 ext 8142.
Sincerely,
4 a A --)L
Brock Bowles
Environmental Protection Specialist
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
