Johnson
Assistant Attorney General
110 Sixteenth Street, Tenth Floor
Denver, Colorado
Re: Mid-Continent Resources, Inc. ( "Resources' ) ;
Rockdust Plant
Dear Frank:
You have asked me to provide you with some information
regarding the rockdust plant which secures Resources' reclamation
bond with the Mined Land Reclamation Board. One item which you
requested was the lease between Resources and Pitkin Iron
Corporation, the operator of the plant. I am enclosing copies of
the November 27, 1985 Quarry Operating Agreement, an Addendum
thereto dated August 5, 1986, the July 5, 1988 Mine Service
Agreement, and an Amendment thereto dated May 1, 1991. Although
the state is secured only by the plant and not by the quarry, the
operation of the two is closely related and the Mine Service
Agreement, which pertains to the operation of the plant, refers
to the lease of the quarry.
You also asked for proof of insurance on the plant. I
am enclosing a copy of Evidence of Property Insurance which
recently was filed with the Bankruptcy Court. The insurer is
Federal Insurance Company. According to my client, the rockdust
plant is covered under the heading "Office, Coal Loading and
Storage, Rock Dust and Magnetite Plant, " although the level of
detail in the schedule is somewhat sketchy.
Very truly yo rs,
C /IV44
J s B.
