OBSERVATIONS
PERMIT #: M- 1980 -193
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: CBM
INSPECTION DATE: March 14, 2012
1) The Division conducted a monitoring inspection of the site on 3/14/12. The site was active at the time of the
inspection. El Paso County Road DOT was operating the site at the time of the inspection. The site was once
operated by the county. The permit sign was properly posted at the access to the property. The entire permit
area is fenced.
2) The total permit area is 295 acres of which 50 acres can be affected at any given time. The size of the active
mining area is about the same as was noted in the last inspection. The only change is the high wall is in to a
different grade than was observed during the last inspection. The small settling pond along the south side of the
access road was dry. There was no sign of affected drainage channel that was noted leaving the permit and
affected area at the time of the inspection. A small front end loader was loading county trucks from existing
stockpiles.
3) The large top soil stockpile along the east side of the active mining area was found to be stable and vegetated.
4) The current financial warranty for the site is $113,757. It is deemed adequate to cover the cost of current
affected area reclamation. The operation is in compliance with the approved reclamation plan.
