All samples were analyzed for the four parameters for
which the Division has established Numeric Protection Levels so that this sampling event could be used
to satisfy the bi- annual ground water monitoring requirement.
The groundwater sampling was conducted on March 20, 2012, and the report was transmitted to GCC on
April 16, 2012. It takes two to three weeks to obtaining the analytical results for Ra -226 and Ra -228.
The following monitoring wells were sampled:
• MW -002
• MW -003
• MW -004
Samples were not collected from deep well MW -001A and shallow well MW -005. Both of these wells
were dry and have been dry since 2008.
The table below presents the numeric protection levels (NPLs) established in the DRMS's December 8,
2010 letter and the concentrations measured in the groundwater samples in April 2011, October 2011
and March 2012.
*Exceeds DRMS NPL.
* *Suspected outlier.
DRMS
NPL
MW -002
MW -003
MW -004
April
2011
Oct.
2011
March
2012
April
2011
Oct.
2011
March
2012
April
2011
1
Oct.
2011
March
2012
Sulfate, mg /I
1950
862
930
1200
1160
1610
1860
990
1410
1640
TDS, mg /I
2630
1590
1760
2150
2190
3060*
3650'
1850
2640"
3040*
R -226, PiC /I
23.5
3.4
1.4
2.6
2.3
1.3
3.5
2.5
3.8
3.0
R -228, PiC /I
12.3
3.9
2.5
2.1
0.3
0.8
1.0
3.6
1.2
13.0 **
*Exceeds DRMS NPL.
* *Suspected outlier.
