per year for dust control. The borrow operation will not exceed 6 months of operation.
Therefore .65 acre feet of water should be sufficient for dust control. There will be no other uses
of water at the borrow site. The source of water will either be bought from the City of Parachute,
3/4 mile east of the site or other available water sources in the area. (The CDOT project will
require water for fill compaction and SEMA (CDOT Project Contractor) is in the process of
securing a source of water for the construction site. If necessary, that water may also be used to
meet the water needs at the borrow site.)
(i) If ground water will be encountered and/or surface water
intercepted or disturbed, describe how mining will affect the quantity
and quality of the surface or ground water and the methods to be used
to minimize disturbance to the surface and ground water systems
including proposed dewatering, sediment - containment or chemical
treatment systems, storm water run -off controls, and ground water
points of compliance:
Neither ground nor surface water will be intercepted or disturbed by the proposed borrow
pit mining and reclamation activities. A Stormwater Management Plan will be secured
from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Water Quality Control
Division (WQCD). In compliance with the Stormwater Management Plan, appropriate
Best Management Practices (BMP) will be in place prior to site disturbance to ensure
storm water is properly routed around disturbed areas, and/or properly controlled from the
site as storm water runoff.
(j) Description how the Operation will comply with applicable
Colorado water laws and regulations governing injury to existing water
rights:
The operator /applicant will comply with Colorado water quality laws and regulations
governing injury to existing water rights. It is not anticipated that any water will be
encountered. If ground water is encountered, the requirements of the State Engineer's
office will be complied with. Any water used for dust control will be purchased or
obtained from individuals with SEO approved water rights.
(k) If refuse and acid or toxic producing materials are exposed during
mining, describe how they shall be handled and disposed of in a manner that
will control unsightliness and protect the drainage system from pollution:
No acid or toxic producing materials will be used or encountered on this site.
(1) Description of what measures will be taken to minimize disturbance to
the hydrologic balance, prevent off -site damage, and provide for a stable
configuration of the reclaimed area consistent with the proposed future land
use:
The hydrologic balance will not be influenced by removal of borrow material.
