0 Range of Characteristics: Moderately deep Typic Haplaquolls were described and sampled at site H33. Deep Typic Haplaquolls were described at five
00locations across the study area (profile description numbers 8, 21, 36, 37, and 65). Both are poorly drained with the water table typically encountered,
co at the time of sampling, at about 4 inches. The water table at site 65 was about 30 inches during March, 1988. Gleyed soil conditions exist below this
depth. The moderately deep Haplaquolls have less than 18 percent clay, whereas the deep Haplaquolls have between 18 and 35 percent clay. Profile depth
averages 62 inches for the deep Haplaquolls. Reaction is neutral to mildly alkaline and the profile is slightly to strongly calcareous. Coarse fragments
are typically less than 15 percent. The site specific Haplaquoll soils are similar to Aquolls as described by SCS in the completed but unpublished San
Migel Area Soil Survey. Associated vegetation at the sample sites consists of sedges, willows, grasses, and cattails.
