Depth to sandstone or shale bedrock ranges from 20 to 40 inches, and averages 31 inches. Coarse fragments dominantly range from 0
to 15 percent and are dominately gravel sized. The Bt argillic horizon is typically loam, sandy clay loam, or sandy loam with 18 to 35 percent clay.
Soil reaction is neutral through moderately alkaline. The Bk calcic horizon has 15 to 25 percent calcium carbonate equivalent. Associated vegetation at
the sample sites consists of irrigated hay grasses. Profile hues on the study area are slightly more yellow and less red than the official series
description.
