Based upon the aforementioned prime farmland information, PCC requests a negative
determination for soil types 1E, 1EW, 20C, 30C, 808, and 810 identified within the Nucla
East study area which meets CMLRD 2.04.12(2,3) negative determination requirements.
d. C . - NoV-wOprl SG s
Mapping Unit Descriptions and Soil Interpretations. Mapping units are depicted by map
symbol, name, and slope percentages in Table 9-5-4, Guide to and Areal Extent of Mapping
Units Identified for the Nucla East Baseline Soil Survey, Montrose County, Colorado. The
areal extent of each mapping unit in acres is also provided in Table 9-5-4. Detailed
descriptions of each mapping unit are provided in Appendix 9-5-1 , Soil Map Unit
Characteristics. These descriptions are presented in numerical order by map unit symbol
and include:
o Map unit symbol and name with associated slope range
o Major map unit components and their percentages
o Map unit inclusions and their percentages
o Slope and physiography (terrain) description
o Parent material type
o Erosion hazard from wind and water (descriptive term)
Additional information is provided for each major soil component of the mapping units in
Appendix 9-5-2, Soil Interpretations. Information provided in this Appendix includes:
o Texture of particle-size control section
o Depth of profile
o Effective rooting depth (inches)
o Internal drainage
o Permeability
o Available water holding capacity
o Rate of surface runoff
o Typical reaction class (surface/subsoil)
o Wind erodibility group number (surface layer)
o Wind and water erosion potential (I and K factors for surface horizon)
o Hydrologic group status
Soil Series Descriptions. The soil series found on the study area and their taxonomic
classifications are provided in Table 9-5-5, Soil Series Classification. This table also
9-5-25 Revised 08/19/88
