The unit is equipped with a 32-day electric drive chart mechanism with a
resolution of +/- 0.01 inch and +/- 1.0 hour.
The purpose of this installation is to quantify precipitation and to determine
rainfall intensity in case of a possible 10-year, 24-hour storm event. Monitoring is
on a monthly basis for chart changes, and a bimonthly basis for battery and chart pen
changes. As of this writing, 95 of 130 possible days of usable data have been
collected for a 73 percent recovery rate.
