Rodriguez, Mary
From:Binns, Janet
Sent:Thursday, April 19, 2012 8:30 AM
To:DRMS-Coal-Admin
Subject:Southfield C1981014 Citizen's complaint Ground water well
Please scan to:
Southfield Mine C1981014
Citizen’s complaint
Ground Water well MW-NW

From: W D Corley, Jr. [mailto:ajjc@att.net]
Sent: Thursday, April 19, 2012 7:25 AM
To: George Patterson; Binns, Janet
Cc: Jack & Leslie Robeda
Subject: Re: Southfield trespass problem

George and Janet,
Was there any methane detected in the NWMW? How do you now compare the test result of that well with the
SF87-07 well which also is apparently open into Southfield? Will SF87-07 be converted to a monitoring well?
With about 10% of the drill holes that were supposed to be reclaimed still open, and about half of the other drill
holes not permanently marked, what are your suggestions for locating these drill holes to assure that more are
not still open? Also an important question is whether all of the bond for all of the exploratory drill holes has
been released?
Did Kent Gorham (assuming that he was the DRMS person at the NWMW test) have any suggestions
concerning Newlin Creek? As of Apr. 18th at 1100 hours the creek flow had not reached the center of section
29 which is your easterly monitoring point. Since the creek has been flowing for three weeks past the
Thompson culvert, and since the flow leaving the Mountain Park has been up to several acre feet per day there
has been a large amount of water running into the ground in the area of the underground mines. How do you
rule out that this large inflow is not entering those mines, both the old mines or Southfield?
Doug Corley

Wed, 4/18/12, George Patterson <efcoal@gmail.com>
--- On wrote:

From: George Patterson <efcoal@gmail.com>
Subject: Re: Southfield trespass problem
To: "W D Corley, Jr." <ajjc@att.net>
Date: Wednesday, April 18, 2012, 7:38 PM
Doug,
OK, I'll check it out.

This is to advise that the monitor well, NWMW is open. Water 'gushed' down with no build up.
DRMS attended the test and determined the well is satisfactury for monitoring.

George P

1
