SECTION 1: INTRODUCTION TO THE DODSON HYDRAULICS LIBRARY
1.7 PROGRAMMING NOTES
This program is written using the "Turbo Pascal 3.0" compiler from Borland
International in Scotts Valley, Ca. Parts of "Procedures and Functions for
Turbo Pascal" by William Todd of The Success Press in Des Plaines, Ill. are
incorporated into the program. Additional guidance for programming was gained
from Peter Norton's book "Inside the IBM PC" , published by the Robert J.
Brady Co, Bowie, Md.
The original DODSON HYDRAULICS LIBRARY programs were developed on a Compaq
Plus portable computer, using Turbo Pascal's built-in text editor. The current
versions of the programs were developed on a Compaq 286 portable, using
Ashton-Tate's powerful "Framework" integrated software program to outline and
edit the source code text and the program manual. The manual is printed using
FrameWork and a Hewlett-Packard LaserJet printer.
Some of the graphics routines are derived from the excellent "Turbo Pascal
Science and Engineering Tools" by Quinn-Curtis, 7 Fredette Road, Newton
Centre, MA 02159. The Epson printer interface and the routine to detect the
presence of the correct graphics board are derived from Borland
International's "Turbo Graphix Toolbox" . The Hercules Monochrome Graphics Card
routines are adapted from public-domain procedures written by Jon Rifkin, 196
Ference Rd, Stafford Springs CT 06076, which were obtained via CompuServe's
Borland Special Interest Group.
The Pascal Structure Analyzer (PSA) program has been used to analyze the
source code and eliminate some types of programming errors. The PSA program is
supplied as a part of the TurboPower Utilities package, from TurboPower
Software.
These programs are supplied in object code form. The source code is not
available. However, suggestions for changes to the programs are welcome.
DODSON & ASSOCIATES, INC. THE DODSON HYDRAULICS LIBRARY, PAGE 12
