SECTION 1: INTRODUCTION TO THE DODSON HYDRAULICS LIBRARY
1) Before starting the DODSON HYDRAULICS LIBRARY program, type the word
"GRAPHICS" (without the quotes) . The GRAPHICS.COM file which was supplied
on your DOS disk must be present on the current disk in your computer for
this command to work properly. This command can be given in the
AUTOEXEC.BAT file, so that it will be executed automatically each time you
start your computer. Your DOS manual describes the purpose of the
AUTOEXEC.BAT file.
2) Start one of the DODSON HYDRAULICS LIBRARY programs and use the program to
display a graph on the screen.
3) Make sure that your printer is properly connected, and is plugged in and
turned on. Remember - your printer has to be compatible with the graphics
printers listed in your DOS manual.
4) While the cross-section is displayed on the computer screen, press
"Shift-PrtSc" . This means to press the <PrtSc> key while holding down the
<Shift> key. Your printer should begin to print the contents of the
screen. The graph will be displayed sideways. Three or four minutes may be
required for the printing operation to be completed. The following section
shows an example graph printed on an Epson MX-80 printer using the
"Shift-PrtSc" command and the DOS GRAPHICS file. The size and shape of the
graph may be slightly different for your printer.
If a screen graphics dump utility was supplied with your printer or is
available separately for your printer, you may be able to use this utility in
place of the DOS GRAPHICS.COM file to obtain printed cross-sections, even
though your printer may not be compatible with the Epson printing routines
built into the DODSON HYDRAULICS LIBRARY programs program.
DODSON & ASSOCIATES, INC.
