SECTION 1: INTRODUCTION TO THE DODSON HYDRAULICS LIBRARY
that reasonable values have been entered. This checking process occurs after
all the data values have been entered for a particular procedure. If any of
the data values entered for a particular procedure are not within the
acceptable range specified in the "help windows" (described in the previous
section) , then the program displays an error message. You may then repeat the
data entry and correct the values before the computations are completed.
1.6 PROGRAM OUTPUT
1.6.1 Available Types of Program Output
All of the computational procedures in each HYDRAULICS LIBRARY program
automatically display the computed results on the computer screen immediately
after the last item of input data has been entered, provided that each data
input value is within the allowable range. After the results are displayed on
the screen, you have at least three options:
1) You can press the <Enter> key to repeat the procedure. In this way, you can
immediately try different input values.
2) You can press the <Esc> key to return to the MAIN MENU. From the MAIN MENU,
you can leave the program or go on to another procedure.
3) You can press the "R" key (without the quotes) to print a report of the
computations, as described in the following section.
1.6.2 Printing Reports
If you have a printer connected to your computer, you can print out the
results of any computations in this program. Simply press the "R" key (without
the quotes) after the computed results are displayed on the screen. Your
printer should begin to print a complete report of the computations, including
the name of the program, the date of the computations, all of the input data,
and all of the computed results. The printed report also contains a reference
to Dodson & Associates, Inc. , in case questions arise about the use of the
computer program. The following section contains an example of a printed
report from a DODSON HYDRAULICS LIBRARY program.
The heading of each report includes the date on which the report was printed.
The program obtains this date from your computer's system clock. The date can
be set using the DOS DATE command. Check your DOS manual for more details.
If you have problems in printing, or if your computer "hangs up" when you try
to print, then check to make sure your printer is turned on and is "on line" .
You should also , make sure that your computer knows how your printer is
connected. Your computer expects the printer to be connected to parallel port
1, unless you put a command in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file to tell it otherwise.
Check the section of your DOS manual concerning the "MODE" command for more
details.
DODSON & ASSOCIATES, INC.
