All surface mine operations will be conducted to achieve the effluent limitations of 4.05.27(7)
for all mixed drainage when it leaves the permit area.
Sedimentation ponds or impoundments will be constructed before creating new disturbances,
unless approved drainage diversions or other surface water control structures are installed.
Diversion Ditches
The diversion ditches or collection drains in the permit area are the following:
Temporary Ditch
002 Ditch
004 Ditch
005 Ditch
County Road Ditch
Permanent Ditches
Area 1 - (1) Ditch
Area 1 - (2) Ditch
Area 1 - (3) Ditch
Area 1 - (4) Ditch
These ditches are used to transport runoff into sedimentation ponds for treatment in
accordance with the requirements of applicable regulations. Table 13-4 summarized
specification of these ditches. Ditch designs (SEDCAD) are included in Attachment N. The
location of each ditch can be found on Exhibits 13-4.
Each ditch was designed and constructed in accordance with the applicable regulations in
4.05.3. Diversions were designed, constructed and maintained in a manner which prevents
additional contributions of suspended solids to steam flow and to runoff outside the permit
area. Appropriate sediment control measures for these diversions may include maintenance
of appropriate gradients, channel lining, revegetation roughness structures, and detention
13-3 Revised 10/22/93
