This
proposed area consists of approximately 4 -acres and is anticipated to be included within the mine permit
boundary delineation.
The BLM Royal Gorge Field Office has determined that the proposed project is not a major federal
action and will not have a significant effect on the quality of the human environment, individually or
cumulatively with other actions in the general area. Therefore, the use of the proposed area for staging
additional mineral material stockpiles (to be used in association with nearby mining operations currently
being conducted in accordance with requirements outlined in 43 CFR 3600) has been approved with the
following mitigation measures:
1. Air Quality: The mine operator has coordinated with the Colorado Department of Public Health
and Environment to meet state requirements for air quality and will follow the applicable
regulations.
2. Invasive, Non - Native Species: The site should be monitored for non - native species prior to soil
disturbing activities and for at least two growing seasons after the project area has been
rehabilitated. All non - native species identified by monitoring must be treated. Colorado
Quarries will be responsible for Monitoring and treatment of non - native species. Periodic
monitoring will be done by BLM staff.
3. Vegetation: It is suggested that seed under the reclamation plan be native and certified weed
free.
4. Wildlife, Aquatic: Implement Best Management Practices as designed in a Stormwater
Management Plan, being concurrently developed with Colorado Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety (CDRMS).
