FOOTNOTES - APPLICABLE TO PRECEDING PAGES <br /> a_/ - The thirty (30) day average shall be determined by the arithmetic mean of <br /> three (3) samples collected in separate calendar weeks during a thirty <br /> (30) consecutive-day period with a minimum of 20 days occurring between <br /> the first and last sample days. <br /> b/ - The seven (7) day average shall be determined by the arithmetic mean of a <br /> minimum of three samples taken on separate days in a seven (7) day period. <br /> c_/ - This limitation shall be determined by a single sample as required by <br /> Part I.B. Sample Type. <br /> d_/ - When the measurement frequency indicated is quarterly, the samples shall <br /> be collected during March, June, September and December, if a continual <br /> discharge occurs. If the discharge is intermittent, then samples shall <br /> be collected during the period that discharge occurs. If the permittee, <br /> using the approved analytical methods, monitors any parameter more <br /> frequently than required by this permit, then the results of such <br /> monitoring shall be included in the calculation and reporting of the <br /> values required in the Discharge Monitoring Report Form or other forms as <br /> required by the Division. Such increased frequency shall also be <br /> indicated. <br /> e/ - Definitions of Sample Type <br /> I. A "composite" sample, for monitoring requirements, is a minimum of <br /> four (4) grab samples collected at equally spaced two (2) hour <br /> intervals and proportioned according to flow. <br /> 2. A "grab" sample, for monitoring requirements, is a single "dip and <br /> take" sample. <br /> 3. An "instantaneous" measurement, for monitoring requirements, is a <br /> single reading, observation, or measurement performed on site. <br /> 4. A "continuous" measurement, for flow monitoring requirements, is a <br /> measurement obtained from an automatic recording device which <br /> continually measures flow. <br /> 5. A "visual" observation, for oil and grease monitoring requirements, <br /> is observing the discharge to check for the presence of a visible <br /> sheen or floating oil. <br /> 6.
