SITE SUMMARY SHEET <br /> Site Type: Aboriginal open campsite <br /> Site Number 5MN1258 <br /> USGS Reference: Nucla, Colorado, 7. 5 minute series <br /> Drainage: San Miguel River <br /> Site Elevation: 5770 feet ( 1758 m) <br /> Nearest Water: The San Miguel River, a permanent water <br /> source, is due west approximately 3.5 miles. <br /> Numerous intermittent water sources surround <br /> the site area. <br /> Site Vegetation: Weeds on site. Surrounding vegetation <br /> consists of pinyon, juniper, and cottonwood. <br /> Site Description: Site is completely destroyed of all contexual <br /> relationships due to past cultivation of <br /> the site area in wheat and alfalfa. Only <br /> a sparse scattering of chipped and ground <br /> stone artifacts remains on the site. No <br /> features were observed. <br /> Site Dimensions: 50 m N/S X 300 m E/W <br /> Present Conditionss: Site 5MN1258 has been completely des- <br /> troyed through unknown years of farming <br /> and ranching activities. Only four <br /> artifacts were observed, but it is most <br /> likely that the original artifact assemblage <br /> was much like the 56 artifacts recorded <br /> for 5MN1257. <br /> Material Observed: Four artifacts were observed: One white <br /> sandstone metate fragment, a ground stone <br /> fragment, one interior basalt flake <br /> and one interior chert flake. <br /> Material Collected: None <br /> National Register Not recommended to be eligible <br /> Eligibility <br /> io APB 7960 <br />
