RESPONSE:
As discussed in the letter from Montrose County to the Division (January
2, 1987) and in subsequent correspondence from the Division to Peabody
(February 24, 1987) , Montrose County has expressed an interest in
maintaining an open pit at Nucla Mine to expand the county landfill .
Leaving such a pit for the County' s use would necessitate a change in
land use via the technical revision process as detailed in the February
24 letter referenced above. Until such time as plans are confirmed with
the County and this revision can be assembled, Peabody cannot alter its
Reclamation Plan for Areas 4 and 5.
Comment 3.
RESPONSE:
The overburden and interburden handling reference contained on Page 13-2
has been revised from Pages 12-26 and 12-27 to 12-40 and 12-41.
