monitored at Wells GW-N3, GW-N4, GW-N9, and GW-N10 (see Table 7-44, Tab
7, Nucla Permit Revision) . This monitoring at GW-N1 will be conducted
at least once each year, and results will be included in the Nucla
Annual Hydrology Reports.
2.04.7(3) Water Rights
Comment 1.
RESPONSE:
The water well located on Exhibit 7-1a (SWA of Section 31, T47N, R15W) was
initially intended to serve as a domestic water source for a local
resident. After the well was completed, water obtained from this well
proved to be unsuitable for domestic use by the local resident. Shortly
thereafter, the resident approached Peabody personnel with the proposal
that the well be used for monitoring purposes , as the well was completed
in the underburden unit. Peabody agreed to this proposal in 1979, and the
well was then renamed GW-N6 and included as part of the overall ground
water monitoring program. To the best of Peabody's knowledge, this well
was never registered with the State engineer's office.
Exhibit 7-1a has been revised by omitting this water well location.
Since the well is now part of the existing monitoring program (GW-N6)
and is not being used as a domestic water source, the location of this
well on the Water Facilities Map (Exhibit la) is no longer appropriate.
2.04.6 Probable Hydrologic Consequences, Ground Water
Comment 1.
RESPONSE:
The second paragraph on page 7-170 has been rewritten to address the
uncertainties mentioned by the Division. Hopefully, the revised text
will clarify to the Division the original intent of this paragraph.
Surface Water Adequacy Review (John Doerfer memo, January 28, 1987)
Comment 1.
RESPONSE:
No response necessary.
7
