Data collected at this station
are presented in Table B -7.
NEW -3: A dip sample from the Apache Canyon shaft, used to assess the rate of flooding
and the quality of water in the New Elk Mine workings following sealing (see Table B -8).
NEW -4: This sample station, a well, located down dip a sufficient distance from the
portals to reach a known flooded portion of the New Elk Mine (near the conveyor belt), was
established to monitor the water levels and water quality. Data collected at this station (annual
minimum, maximum, mean) for 1995 through 2011 are presented in Table B -9.
1.2.6 Refuse Disposal Area Piezometers
TH -201: Station TH -201, a piezometer, installed on the lowest bench of the Refuse
Disposal Area fill (Bench 1) to determine the level of piezometric surface within the
embankment.
TH -202: Station TH -202, a piezometer, installed in the Refuse Disposal Area (Bench 2)
to determine the level of the piezometric surface within the embankment.
TH -203: Station TH -203, a piezometer, installed in the Refuse Disposal Area (Bench 3)
to determine the level of the piezometric surface within the embankment.
This information is to be used in analyses of embankment stability of the Refuse Disposal
Area landfill. Measurements (annual minimum, maximum, mean) for 1994 through 2011 are
presented in Table B -10.
1.2.7 Bedrock Wells
NE -1 -10 is located on the south side of Purgatoire River.
