September 28, 201 1 C -1982 -057 /Seneca II -W Mine SLB

Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 6
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1

construction of the underdrains.

The LU -2 road slide area was stable. The operator eliminated and reclaimed the LU -2 road this past summer;
grading, topsoil replacement, and seeding have all been completed. Grasses were germinating in the reclaimed
cor ridor.

The pumphouse slide repair was complete. Two toe drains have been installed; both were dry at the time of the
inspection. It is possible that the base of the slide above the rock drains may have been oversteepened; the
operator should monitor the se areas and grade as necessary if sloughing occurs.

The oil well slide repair has also been finished. The entire slide was regraded, and a rock buttress was placed at
the base on the east end of the slide. Water was flowing from the newly constructed t oe drain. This repair also
may be too steep and may require further grading and possible westward extension of the rock buttress. The
operator indicated that this area was left fairly steep in an effort to minimize disturbance of the reclamation
upgradie nt of the slide. Further monitoring is warranted and repairs and/or additional buttressing should be made
as necessary.

The repaired MEHR slide area remained stable. Repairs to this slide were complete in June and included
lessening of the road embankme nt (coincident with road corridor reclamation) and installation of a toe drain.

ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS/COMPLIANCE

No enforcement actions were initiated as a result of this inspection, nor are any pending.
