Harry Ranney of CDRMS collected aerial images on September 26, 2011. Janet <br />Binns of CDRMS reviewed these images on October 7, 2011. This inspection report is a result of the rev iew of <br />these images. The mine site appears dry. <br /> <br />The Southfield mine is a reclaimed underground mine. No mine personnel remain on site. The permit includes <br />the reclaimed portal and facilities area, a sealed and reclaimed air shaft, a reclaimed refuse di sposal area and a <br />partially reclaimed load -out located approximately 12 miles off site, west of the town of Florence. The Aerial <br />images did not include images of the load out. The load out remains inactive, and storage of rail cars on the tracks <br />remains the only activity at the load out. <br /> <br />HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05 <br /> Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, <br />4.05.10; Diversions 4.05.4; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18: <br /> <br />Both ponds at the mine site are dry. Pond 5 shows evidence of sediment having been graded recently. <br /> <br />PROCESSING WASTE/COAL MINE WASTE PILES – Rule 4.10 and 4.11 <br /> Drainage Control; Surface Stabilization; Placement: <br /> The Refuse Disposal Area is well vegetated and shows no evidence of bare areas or erosional problems. <br /> <br />ROADS – Rule 4.03Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4) <br /> Surfacing and Maintenance4.03.1(5) and (6)/4.03.2(5) and (6) <br /> Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7): <br /> Roads appear to be dry and in good condition. Water bars are visible cut into the surface of the roadways.
