The Peabody Sage Creek <br />Mine is approved to conduct blasting activities for both portal excavation and other construction and operational <br />activities. Evidence of blasting of the portal area was observed with drilling activities being co nducted near the <br />lowest portal bench. The construction blasting activities are near completion. <br /> <br />Blasting si gns were observed on Haul Road A -1 and Haul Road B. <br /> <br />HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05 <br /> Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structu res 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, <br />4.05.10; Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring <br />4.05.13; Drainage – Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffe r Zones 4.05.18: <br />Pond 002 (Wadge Impoundment) was holding water and discharging at the time of the inspection. The pond was <br />stable with no problems noted. The amount of discharge was not identified through the flume. <br />The Pecoco Pond was holding water a t the time of the inspection. The embankments were stable and well <br />vegetated at the time of the inspection. Pond 003 was holding water at the time of the inspection. The pond <br />embankments were stable. Good vegetation was observed on the pond embankments and around the pond. <br /> <br />New culverts SC -14, SC -16, and SC -17 were observed during this inspection. Culverts SC -18 and SC -19 were in <br />the process of installation at the time of the inspection. All culverts were in place with no problems noted. <br /> <br />New ditc hes RC -D 3, RD -D4, RC -D4, FA -D5, FA -D6, and RD -D3 have been constructed as designed or in the <br />process of construction with no problems noted. <br /> <br />The upper sump construction has been completed as designed with the exception of vegetation growth. Seeding of <br />t he embankments will be conducted this fall. Construction of the Lower Sump continues at the time of this
