Jennifer Maiolo of the US Bureau of Land <br />Management (BLM) -Little Snake District accompanied the inspection. Jennifer had not visited the site in a few <br />years and wanted to reacquaint herself with this permit. The Division asks BLM for comments when renewing <br />permits or approving bond releases on Federal Mines. <br /> <br />The weather was cool and clear with 2 -3 inches of snow on the ground and roads. <br />HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05 Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, <br />4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10; Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water <br />Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Moni toring 4.05.13; Drainage – Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; <br />Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18: <br />Moffat pond was observed. The pond holds a permanent pool of water, which was partially frozen. No problems <br />were observed with the emba nkment of discharge structure at the Moffat Pond. All three ponds remaining on site <br />are permanent structures. The West Pit rock check dams, String -of -Pearls, were holding water in some of the <br />dams. Structure is fun ctioning as designed and no pro blems we re noted with the String -of -Pearls. <br /> <br />Ditches and drainages throughout the mine site appear to be functi o ning as designed. Culverts are unimpeded. <br /> <br />OTHER (SPECIFY): <br /> <br />ROADS – Rule 4.03 Construction 4.03.1(3)/4.03.2(3) Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4) Surfa cing and <br />Maintenance4.03.1(5) and (6)/4.03.2(5) and (6) Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7): <br /> There was 2 -4 inches of snow on the roadways. Recent tire tracks were noted on the North Road and <br />continued up Skyline drive. The access road to the Moffat Pond w as in good repair. The inspection did not <br />continue all the way to the West Pit Pond or Center Ridge Pond but turned around at the southernmost switchback <br />on the West Ridge due to concerns that the lower access road would be slick.
