29. The discussion of mining under the alluvial valley floors within the Williams Fork Mines' permit area,
beginning on permit page 4.01 -13, only includes inforination for the first permit term. The Williams Fork
Mines is currently in its,f fth permit term. Please update the discussion of mining activities under the
Yampa River (Big Bottom) and Williams Fork River Alluvial Vall, v Floors for all permit terms up to and
including the current permit term. If MCM provides a Permit Revision with a neiv mine plan, this section
of the permit will need to be updated with the future (planned) mining information as well.
Response: The specific Permit text discussion for alluvial valley- floors has been reviewed and updated, as
appropriate, to reflect current status and conditions. Copies of the revised Permit discussion accompany these
responses for replacement in the PAP.
30. The current status of the Williams Fork Mines is "Temporary Cessation". In the summer of 2010 the
Division notified M(,M,, through the Annual Reclamation Report review letter, that they would be
reinitiating monthly inspections of the site (with two partial and one complete inspection each quartet).
This decision was based on the fact that the operator had completed some reclamation activities in the past
several years and there was a_need to monitor the success of the reclamation. Based on a review of the
Annual Hydrologic Report, MCM is per forming a fidl water monitoring program as well. The water
monitoring schedule was reduced when the site initially went into temporary cessation. Given the long term
df inaetivuy, the recent reclamation activity and the fact that MCM is performing a fitll water monitoring
schedule, as required, the Division is going to place the Williams Fork Mines back into `.Active" status.
MCM has the option of choosing to go into "Permanent Cessation" status while they complete reclamation
on the entire site. In either case, the Division is required to inspect the mine on a monthly basis.
Response: MCM will cooperate with the CDRMS to facilitate inspections on the basis and interval that the
CDRMS feels is appropriate; given site status. It may be appropriate to note that MCM implemented full water
monitoring in anticipation of submittal of a bond release application. We will be preparing that application for
submittal b-, the end of 1st quarter 2012.
9
