The East Rigden Pit's Pre -81 exposure locations have previously been
set and are not allowed to be relocated to other areas of ground water exposure within the gravel pit
boundary.
The Weitzel Pit (DRMS No. M- 1986 -050, Pit WDID 0303024) and the Port of Entry Pit (DRMS
No. M- 1982 -182, WDID 0303026) were previously included in Lafarge's Middle Poudre Combined
SWSP. Starting January 1, 2012 these two pits are removed from this SWSP and are covered under
individual SWSPs for the specific sites. The Weitzel Pit has a pending SWSP application by Stoner &
Company. Lafarge will be covering the Port of Entry (POE) Pit under a SWSP filed under § 37 -90-
308(5) per requirements set forth in a motion to dismiss case no. 2004CW111. Replacement from both
sites will be through credits generated through this SWSP. To account for this, the credits dedicated to
the Weitzel and Port of Entry Pits are listed as depletions against this plan. See the respective SWSPs
for the details of their operation.
Depletions
The total losses for the sites are summarized in the following table:
TABLE B - DEPLETIONS
Page 2
The exposed surface area at all the sites has been updated based on the current conditions for
each site using a 2011 aerial photo. Net evaporative depletions were calculated using a gross annual
evaporation of 39 inches from the exposed water surface, with a credit of 8.8 inches for effective
precipitation. You have assumed an ice covered period to occur during the months of December
through February and have reduced the computation of evaporation accordingly. However, for the
purpose of this SWSP, the Applicant shall replace the net evaporation depletions from the exposed
ground water surface area that may occur during the assumed ice covered period (December through
February) for any time that the pit is not completely covered by ice. Computation of the net evaporation
during any time that the pit is not completely covered by ice shall be determined as the pro -rata amount
of the monthly gross evaporation rate distribution amount identified in the State Engineer's General
Guidelines for Substitute Supply Plans for Sand and Gravel Pits, subtracting the pro -rata amount of the
effective precipitation for that period.
