March 30, 2012
Mr. Jared Ebert
Environmental Protection Specialist
Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Dear Mr. Ebert:
RE: Semi - annual Geotechnical Monitoring Report — March 2012
Trapper began submitting semi - annual monitoring reports to the Division, beginning March 2008 with the last
report sent on September 28, 2011. Trapper has been monitoring the 2006 landslide area for movement
through the use of a continuous monitoring system.
Section 3.3.3 of Trapper's permit details the initial configuration of the monitoring system. Since the last report
was submitted, no changes have occurred in the configuration of the system. A map has been attached
showing the location of the four monitoring sites. Inclinometer, piezometer and surface displacement graphs for
all four sites covering the time period of September 29, 2011 through March 29, 2012 are attached.
Since the last report, the software used to download and analyze the data has changed from the Atlas
Monitoring System to the Vista Data Vision. The new software allows more options relating to downloading
data into tables, analyzing the data in various graphs and flexibility with the graph scales. Applying threshold
limits for the alarms have improved in this software as well. Due to power outages and surges, some spikes
have occurred in the graphs. When the specialists at Applied Geomechnics have time, they will take these
spikes out.
At the end of the last report, the GPS monitoring system located at station 8 was not operating. The receiver
and radio were simultaneously not functioning properly. The system has been fixed and began functioning
around October 11, 2011.
The monitoring system has shown no significant movement during the period. Please contact me if you have
any questions.
Sincerely,
Tonia Perkins, P. E.
Senior Mining Engineer
P.O.
