6.4.5 (Reclamation Plan)
(d) Where applicable, the operator /applicant has plans developed for the segregation,
preservation, replacement, compaction and grading of soil used for revegetation. The
revegetation plan will contain a list of the preferred species of grasses to be planted as
recommended in the existing permit file M- 1987 -013. All seeds recommended should be
available and in sufficient quantity to accomplish the revegetation.
Seedbed preparation has been covered in Section 3.1 of this application
(See 3.1.10(5) ).
(e) The schedule of reclamation will follow the mining phasing, and the operator would
expect to start reclamation as soon as feasible after mining has been completed.
The final grading also will be done when mining is complete. Some
backsloping, daylighting and contouring will be done as mining progresses.
(i
This estimate of the time for reclamation follows: Start times of reclamation
are dependent on the length of time of the mining. Therefore the active mining
will be 7 to 10 years, however some grading and contouring will take place as
mining progresses. Final reclamation will be started when the mining is
finished.
(ii) The largest area that will be considered in reclamation at any time will be
approximately 13.44 Acres. Refer to the locations on the reclamation plan
map in Exhibit "F."
(f) Measures that will be taken to re- vegetate the site:
(i)
The applicant/operator will continue to follow the seeding rates and
recommendations submitted in the original permit. They where recommended
and submitted by John F. Nelson Soil Conservationist in cooperation with the
Rio Grande Soil Conservation District dated September 5, 1986.
Side slopes will be graded to a maximum 3H: 1V, the exception will be in the
areas that a highwall remains due to the operators inability to reduce the rock
mass and knows that the rock mass is geologically stable. The pit floor will be
graded, smoothed, and topsoiled.
