Reclamation Plan
6.4.5 The Reclamation Plan for the Burton Pit is as follows (Please also see map):
Exhibit "E"
This information comes from the Original 110 c File No. 1987 -013 and subsequent additions
to the permanent file.
(1) The Operation/Applicant has prepared a reclamation plan that addresses the following
items: final grading, which includes drainage, seeding, fertilizing, vegetation, and topsoiling.
The plan is based on the Reclamation Plan submitted for the 110c Permit, which is the
reclamation plan; the operator will use to complete the reclamation for this site.
(2) This Reclamation plan includes provisions for all the general Requirements for this mine
site to be restored to a post mining use of Rangeland. To accomplish this the side slopes will
be graded to 3 horizontal to 1 vertical (3H: 1V) or flatter where no highway is present. The
highwalls will be kept to a minimum, however the operator does expect that some highwalls
will remain post mining. Where highwalls will remain, the operator proposes to slope the
vertical face at 1 /2H: 1 V. The affected lands will be planted with native grass as stated in the
original permit. Topsoil (growth medium) will be replaced at a rate of 4 inches to 6 inches.
The operator will use the available topsoil using Best Management Practices. The topsoil is
limited at this site.
(a) The operator /applicant will reclaim this mine site back to Rangeland as the
landowner directed. This site will become rangeland post mining and the haul
roads will be left for use by the landowners on the property.
Dozer and front -end loaders will do the earth moving and the side slopes will
be mine at a 3H: 1V gradient or flatter to facilitate reclamation areas without
highwalls. The land shaping of the affected area will be done in such a manner
as to enhance the surrounding rangeland. To accomplish this stormwater will
be managed to prevent erosion and promote vegetation growth.
(b) As stated before the proposed post- mining land use will be Rangeland to
be consistent with the surrounding lands that are Rangeland.
(c) A description of how the Reclamation Plan will be implemented to meet each
applicable requirement of Section 3.1, Reclamation Performance Standards
follows:
