The Pittsburg & Midway Coal Mining Co., Midway Mine, KS & MO
Design and construction of watershed features on 10,000 acres of mined land. Responsible for
modeling runoff and providing adequate hydrologic control structures to control erosion,
protect water quality and qualify for final reclamation bond release.
Union Pacific Railroad, Tennessee Pass Sulphuric Acid Spill Site, Leadville, CO
Designed and constructed a surface water runoff and erosion control plan for the area impacted
by the acid spill.
Union Pacific Railroad, Green River, WY
Performed soil inventory, vegetation survey, and Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation
hydrologic stability characterization on a trona waste dump facility for site closure purposes.
REVEGETATION SUCCESS EVALUATIONS & MONITORING PLANS
VEGETATION MANAGEMENT
c- Habitat < .. Management, Inc.
35 E Phillips Circle. Centel) niaL Colorado 8(l 123
Developed and supervised the implementation of plans to evaluate revegetation success on a
variety of coal, hard rock, and quarry mining sites and other drastically disturbed lands.
Specialized in evaluating existing vegetation and developing management plans to meet
revegetation success goals and standards for large disturbance areas including mine sites, leach
pads, facility sites and hazardous waste spill sites. Developed and coordinated the collection of
vegetation data required for release of reclamation liability bonds on large acreages of
reclaimed coal and hard rock mines, and waste impacted sites.
Triton Coal Company, Buckskin Mine, Gillette, WY.
Reclamation Bond and Sediment Control Release Application- Performed Soil Inventory,
Vegetation Survey and Hydrologic Characterization and preparation of a bond release
application package.
Managed reclaimed vegetation communities through livestock grazing, controlled burns and
integrated pest management plans. Evaluated pre -burn and post -burn vegetation, soil, and site
stability parameters to develop burn sequence, fertility amendments, weed control and erosion
control practices. Developed and implemented high intensity rotational grazing livestock
programs and integrated pest management plans.
The Pittsburg & Midway Coal Mining Company, Empire & Midway Mines, KS & MO.
Planned and implemented the collection of pre- and post -burn vegetation, soil, and site stability
parameters to develop burn sequence, fertility amendments, weed control, and erosion control
on 10,000 acre Midway Mine and the 3,600 acre Empire Mine. Coordinated burn sequence with
grazing, vegetation monitoring, and other land management activities. Implemented a high
intensity, rotational grazing program on a combination of cool and warm season plant species
pastures. Grazing management resulted in improved vegetation growth and diversity while
reducing post -mine management costs.
