Blasting Impacts Assessment for the Proposed GCC Rio Grande, Inc. Quarry in Pueblo County, Colorado <br />2.0 BLASTING CONCERNS AND IMPACTS <br />Following is a listing of identified blasting concerns and issues raised in the public comments and <br />designated in the Pre- Hearing Order of June 7, 2002. They are not listed in any particular order <br />based on importance or any other criteria. <br />1. Impacts on water resources including neighboring wells, the Dakota and Cheyenne <br />aquifers, and the St. Charles River. Concerns include nitrate and ammonia contamination <br />and physical disruption of aquifers or damage to wells. <br />2. Stability of the DRG -RR Bridge and embankments. <br />3. Damage to neighboring structures including the Blake Ranch Home, stone kilns structures <br />and an adobe home. <br />4. Impacts on domestic and wild animals. <br />5. Impacts of blast noise. <br />6. Control of blast dust and fumes. <br />7. Nitrate and ammonia contamination of soil by blasting chemicals. <br />All identified concerns are evaluated separately in Section 4.0 of this report. <br />REVEY Associates, Inc.
