Fifleda Director As we discussed during our January 20, 2012 meeting at the Division's office, in accordance with Rules 2.04.(7)(2)(b) and 2.05.6(3)(b)(iv), the Division will require WFC to conduct surface water monitoring to acquire baseline water quality data on the unnamed channel to which "Meehan" and "Glasier" Draws are tributary. This water quality monitoring data will be used to establish the existing water quality conditions and to determine the probable hydrologic consequences of the mining operation. The data will be used specifically to detennine potential impacts from the mining operations upon the adjacent lands of Meehan and Glasier Draws. Ideally, the monitoring will be collected in three locations along the unnamed channel. The first location will be upstream of the channel's confluence with "Meehan" Draw, the second between "Meehan" and "Glasier" Draws, and the third downstream of the confluence with "Glasier" Draw (see attached map). Monitoring of these locations will be conducted quarterly for one year prior to initiation of mining activities affecting "Meehan" Draw, and will then be reinitiated quarterly for one year prior to final bond release. The parameters to be monitored will be those parameters listed in Table 3 of Appendix 2.05.3(3)-3 of the proposed New Horizon North mine permit application package. Sincerely, Marcia L.
