Review of the proposed substitutions, Utah sweetvetch in place of American
vetch, and Skunkbrush sumac, in place of Rocky Mountain maple, are acceptable and in agreement with Permit section
4.15.6. The Division concurs with the proposed species substitutions. Please be sure to report the seed mix used, and
rate of application with Colowyo's Annual Reclamation Report.
javtt H-. gwws
Environmental Protection Specialist II
Colorado Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety
phone: (303) 866 -3567 ext. 8107
fax: (303) 832 -8106
From: Blunt, Kurtis (CCC) [ mailto :Kurtis.Blunt @riotinto.com]
Sent: Wednesday, October 05, 2011 7:49 AM
To: Binns, Janet
Subject: Proposed modifications to the Modified Sagebrush Steppe Mix for the Aspen/Tall Shrub Field Trials
Janet,
There are a couple of species unavailable in the currently approved field trial seed mix (American Vetch and Rocky
Mountain Maple). I'd like to propose replacing them with Utah Sweetvetch and Skunkbush Sumac respectively at the
same seeding rate. I have attached the approved mix and the description for what I'm proposing. I'd like to get the seed
ordered ASAP so we can be ready to proceed when the weather cooperates in the next couple of weeks.
Thanks for your assistance.
Kurt
Kurtis R.
