•
basis at least twice a year. We are subject to federal dust, noise, equipment, electrical, safety,
documentation and engineering regulations.
The current zoning of this area is '0' Open. The use of the amendment area, and property surrounding
it, is grazing and will be reclaimed to grazing. The area is 680 feet by 175 feet. No additional buildings,
electricity or water will be needed for the amendment.
The Mining Plan calls for a wall about 15 feet wide of the existing Plainview stone formation to remain in
place on the west boundary of the amendment area to provide a view shed. The retained wall will also
prevent water and soil from running offsite. This wall method is used for storm water control, view shed
and erosion control in the current 58.75 acre permit and has worked well.
This 3.03 acre amendment area is in the same drainage plain as the existing permitted area and any
additional storm water runoff will be contained in the same retention pits that the existing plan uses.
The volume of these pits has increased substantially due to our mining plan execution so any increase in
storm water runoff, which may be caused by the amendment area, will be retained. Retained water
from a severe storm lies in shallow pools and will leach through the layers of sandstone below in two or
three days.
A neighborhood meeting was held at The Rock Garden on February 15 2012 at 7:00 PM. All individuals
on the list supplied by Larimer County were invited by a USPS letter sent on January 26, 2012. The
project was presented by me and Justyn Hamilton who is the manager of the quarry. Questions of the
four people who attended were answered and general discussion followed until around 7:50 PM. Two of
the people in attendance were from LAPAC.
Jim Striggow — Owner /operator
Stone Wholesale, Inc.
03 -05 -2012
