Pineda <br />Director <br />Re: Roadside Portals (Permit No. C- 1981 -041) Permit Revision Application No. 5 (PR -5) <br />Demonstration for Approval to Remove Drainage Control Features at the North <br />Portal, CRDA 1 & 2, CBA 1 & 2 and change in Reclamation Plan of Ponds 6, 10, 11 <br />and other final drainage features. <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, <br />Article 33, Section 118, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on March 13, 2012, an <br />application to revise coal mining operations at the Roadside Portals was considered complete for <br />the purposes of filing. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations <br />initiate from this date of filing. <br />With this permit revision application Snowcap Coal Company, Inc. proposes to gain approval for <br />the removal of Ponds 6, 10, 11 and 13 along with other drainage control features at CRDA 1 & 2, <br />CBA 1 & 2 and the North Portal. This revision also seeks approval to make changes to the final <br />reclamation plans of Ponds 6, 10, and 11, Coal Gulch, the Coal Canyon drainage and Roadside <br />North Portal. The operator has requested no new disturbed acreage with this revision application <br />and the revision application would not incorporate additional lands into the permit area. <br />The Underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 5 miles North of <br />Palisade, Colorado. The permit area is further described as follows: <br />Portions of Sections 26, 27, 28, 34, and 35, T1OS, R98W, 6th PM; Portions of Sections 1, 2, 11, <br />12, and 13, T11S, R98W, 6th PM; Portions of Section 7, T11S, R97W, 6th PM; all in Mesa <br />County. <br />The above - mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Cameo <br />and Palisade. <br />Office of Office of <br />Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines <br />
