(404) 705 -9500 • Fax (404) 705 -9300 <br />29 September 1993 <br />GeoSyntec Consultants (GeoSyntec) is pleased to present the results <br />of the interface direct shear testing program performed for Golder <br />Associates, Inc. (Golder). The interface direct shear testing was <br />conducted at GeoSyntec's Geomechanics and Environmental Laboratory in <br />Atlanta, Georgia. This letter report was prepared by Mr. Robert H. Swan, <br />Jr., E.I.T. and Dr. Zehong Yuan, both of GeoSyntec. The report was <br />reviewed by Dr. Gary R. Schmertmann, P.E., also of GeoSyntec, in <br />accordance with the internal peer review policy of the firm. <br />The tests were conducted in accordance with the procedures defined <br />in the 31 August 1993 memorandum prepared by Mr. David A. Kidd, P.E. of <br />Golder. GeoSyntec understands that the purpose of the testing program <br />was to evaluate the minimum interface shearing resistance between three <br />selected lining components using the direct shear method. Tne three. <br />lining components consist of a crushed rock overliner, an 80 -mil (2 -mm) <br />thick Gundle Lining Systems, Irc.
