Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company Squaw Gulch Valley Leach Facility Design
B.1.1. Flexible -wall permeability testing was conducted on representative remolded
samples from the clay borrow area. The material was first sieved to remove oversize
particles and then recompacted to 95 percent of the standard Proctor maximum dry
density at or near the optimum moisture content. The flexible wall permeabilities range
from between 2.8x10 cm /sec and 1.08X10$ cm /sec, with a geometric mean of
6.6x10 cm /sec. Sieve analyses of the borrow source samples indicate an average of
approximately 32 percent passing the No. 200 sieve with a range between 2 and 98
percent. The hydrometer tests indicate that 10 to 25 percent of the material consists of
clay -sized particles (less than 2 microns). The results of the Atterberg limits tests
indicate that the liquid limit ranges from non - plastic to 56 percent, with an average of
about 33 percent, and the plasticity index ranges between non - plastic and 33, with an
average of about 16 percent.
Project No.: 74201125G0 Page 16
1 September 2011
amec0
