(13) Climate
(a) NSI does not use any designated chemicals or cause acid mine drainage. NSI does not have any liquid
containment systems that are intended to contain designated chemicals or acid mine drainage.
(b) The vast majority of land on the NSI leases is between 6,500 and 6,800 feet above sea level. No
weather monitoring stations are present within the NSI leases. Meteorological and climatic data
available from 3 weather stations near but beyond the lease area provides a cross - sectional perspective
across the Piceance Creek Basin from Rangely, CO near the northwestern margin of the basin to Little
Hills, CO which is located near the north - central portion of the basin, to Meeker, CO located near the
northeastern margin of the basin. Table 5 displays the average maximum and minimum monthly
temperatures, average monthly and annual total precipitation, average monthly and annual total
snowfall and average monthly and annual snow depth for the weather stations at these three locations
across the Piceance Creek Basin. No data regarding the wettest year on record for these areas are
available.
