ECOSA Evaluation AdrianBrown
5. CONCLUSION
The construction of the proposed redesigned ECOSA in the catchment basin of Grassy Valley will have
the following potential impacts on the quantity and quality of water resources:
• Temporary sequestering of precipitation falling on ECOSA to raise the moisture content of the
contained overburden to field capacity will reduce the flow of water from Carlton Tunnel by a
maximum of 83 gpm for a period expected to last through 2035.
• Temporary reduction of spring snowmelt and storm water runoff to Grassy Valley during
construction as a result of capture of incident precipitation by the un- reclaimed overburden will
reduce the spring snowmelt and stormwater flow in Grassy Valley by 2.3 acre feet per year
during the construction and operational period, ending in 2023.
• No impacts to water quality in surface water or saturated groundwater are expected to result
from the construction the proposed redesigned ECOSA in Grassy Valley at any time.
1385E.20120224 15
