Delineation of Potential Wetlands for Mine Life Extension 2 Project <br />Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company <br />1.0 INTRODUCTION /PURPOSE <br />This report presents the results of a delineation of potential wetlands and other waters of the <br />U.S. for the areas of new disturbance included in the Mine Life Extension 2 (MLE2) Project <br />(Mine Permit Amendment No. 10) of the Cresson Project by Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining <br />Company (CC &V). Wetlands and other waters are regulated under Section 404 of the Clean <br />Water Act (CWA) and authorization (a Section 404 permit) is required for the placement of <br />dredged and fill material into them. <br />The purpose of this report is to identify and map any potential wetlands and other waters to <br />assist with planning and approvals For MLE2. <br />2.0 STUDY AREA DESCRIPTION <br />MLE2 is located in the Cripple Creek Historic Mining District, which lies within the headwaters of <br />several tributaries to the Arkansas River near Cripple Creek and Victor, Colorado. Figure 1 is a <br />vicinity map. <br />The five areas of new disturbance proposed in MLE2 were included in this report. The limits of <br />the five areas are shown in Figure 2 and are referred to as the following: <br />1. Squaw Gulch <br />2. Schist Island <br />3. Globe Hill <br />4. Wildhorse Extension <br />5. East Cresson <br />The principal investigator for this study has identified and mapped wetlands throughout the <br />mining district during the past 19 years and is very familiar with the occurrence and <br />characteristics of wetlands in the area. Potential wetlands and other waters were identified and <br />mapped previously in Squaw Gulch and most of the Wildhorse Extension. <br />July 2011 Bikis Water Consultants, LLC Page 1 <br />
