A series of liner load tests conducted by Golder (2005) indicate that the liner system
within the SGVLF can withstand the proposed ore depths of up to approximately 800
feet, or approximately 610 pounds per square inch ( "psi ") assuming an ore density of 110
pounds per cubic foot ( "pcf').
Further information about the ore storage area liner system is located in Appendix 9,
Volume V.
7.2.1.3 Pregnant Solution Storage Area Liner System
The PSSA will be constructed as an internal pond within the SGVLF area. The PSSA
will be formed by constructing a containment embankment across the Squaw Gulch
drainage. This embankment serves as the toe of the SGVLF and provides foundation for
realignment of a portion of SH 67.
The liner system for the PSSA will be similar to the existing PSSA liner for the AGVLF
and will consist of the following:
• Outside of the PSSA sump, the liner system will consist of 12 inches of SLF
overlain by a 100 -mil textured (single -sided with the textured side down)
LLDPE bottom geomembrane overlain by 3 feet of low volume solution
collection system ( "LVSCS ") fill overlain by a 100 -mil smooth LLDPE top
geomembrane overlain by 2 feet of DCF. A textured geomembrane was
selected for the bottom liner as it provides for higher interface shear strength
than smooth LLDPE geomembrane.
• Inside of the PSSA sump, the liner system will consist of 12 inches of SLF
overlain by a 100 -mil textured (single -sided with the textured side down)
LLDPE bottom geomembrane overlain by 3 feet of LVSCS fill overlain by a
100 -mil smooth LLDPE top geomembrane overlain by 5 feet of DCF.
Installation of the composite liner systems will generally be on slopes of2.5H:1 Vor
flatter. Additional details are provided in Appendix 9, Volume V.
7.2.1.4 High Volume Solution Collection System
The HVSCS provides a means to collect and route process solutions from the ore storage
area to the PSSA. The HVSCS for the SGVLF will be similar to the system approved
and certified for the AGVLF. It will consist of 24 inches of free draining DCF,
Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company
Cresson Project Mine Life Extension 2
7 -5
