between 93.5 and 113.5 feet bgs. Overall, the ground water in Vindicator Valley at VIN -
2A is characterized by calcium- sulfate dominated water with near neutral pH (median
value 7.16), nitrate values below the detection limit since mid -2004, and a median sulfate
value of 701.5 mg/L.
Arequa Gulch
There are three existing monitoring wells in the Arequa Gulch watershed: ESPMW -1 and
CRMW -3B are completed in the bedrock granite and CRMW -3A is completed in the
alluvium/ shallow bedrock. The CRMW wells are both calcium sulfate waters. The
median pH, nitrate and sulfate values for CRMW -3A and CRMW -3B are 6.24 and 6.72,
10.6 and 2.7 mg/L -N, and 742 and 734 mg/L, respectively. ESPMW -1 is a calcium
bicarbonate water. The median pH, nitrate, and sulfate values are 7.84, <0.05 mg/L -N,
and 41 mg/L, respectively.
Poverty Gulch
There is one ground water monitoring well in Poverty Gulch, PGMW -2A, completed
within the diatreme. This well has been dry since installation in 2005 suggesting that
bedrock ground water is captured by the diatreme at this location.
Cripple Creek
There are no ground water monitoring wells in Cripple Creek. There are monitoring
wells located in tributaries to Cripple Creek including Squaw Gulch, Poverty Gulch and
Arequa Gulch.
Gold Run
Three wells were used to summarize the water quality in the Gold Run watershed: all
three wells (GRMW -1A, GRMW -2A, and GRMW -3A are completed in the granite
adjacent to the diatreme. All wells were installed in mid -1998. Water levels vary by less
than 10 feet. Overall, the ground water in Gold Run is characterized by calcium - sulfate
solutions in GRMW -1A and GRMW -2A and calcium - bicarbonate in GRMW -3A. The
well have near neutral median pH values (median value range of 6.84 — 7.41), low
nitrates (56 of 63 analyses less than the detection limit of 0.05 mg/L -N) and median
sulfate values of 691 mg /L, 1,726 mg /L and 184 mg /L in GRMW -1A, GRMW -2A, and
GRMW -3A, respectively.
Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company
Cresson Project Mine Life Extension 2
4 -15
